3/20/25 - A message from Family Network’s Executive Director, Audrey Zavaleta
It’s been almost two months since the first frenzy of information about the federal funding freeze, and the following actions and reactions as many scrambled to defend and protect crucial and essential programming for some of our nation’s most vulnerable.
Family Network currently operates 2 programs heavily supported with federal funds: the Healthy Families America program, and our newest home visiting program, SafeCare.
Although Family Network has not yet been impacted by a direct funding cut, the reality is that 63% of our annual operating budget comes from federal funds. At this time, we are uncertain how our organization might be impacted going forward. In addition, as other critical/safety net services are impacted, we experience an increased demand for our services. Your support is more critical than ever.
I can’t stop thinking of how this feels so similar to the uncertainty 4 years ago when we were trying to figure out how to keep serving families in our community through the pandemic.
The only way we were able to make it then was because our Northwest Arkansas community rallied together. People donated money, nonprofits banded together and got creative, and funders made grants available through emergency funds.
At Family Network, we commit to keep serving families, no matter what it takes.
We don't know what will happen in the next day or week, but we know that we will continue taking care of each other.
If you're asking me, "what can I do?", sign up to give a monthly recurring gift. It's easy, and just $5 a month means we can keep doing the work.
I'm so thankful for you! Don't hesitate to reach out,
Audrey
